Should Handwriting Affect the Schooling and Exams of Students?

Good handwriting is a skill that is appreciated in all walks of life by people. At a very young age students are trained in their schools for developing a legible handwriting. It is important that children are taught to write not only for good handwriting but also for developing brain coordination. Writing is a complex task that requires thinking and coordinating skills. The benefits of writing are unlimited but it can’t be taken as grading factor in students.

Not all students are able to develop beautiful and neat handwriting. Different children have different abilities. Good handwriting do present a sense of positivity to reader. Good handwriting can be appreciated and those students whose handwriting is not good, teachers can encourage students to practice good handwriting.

When handwriting is taken as factor for grading, those students who do not have good handwriting may feel lack of confidence while writing exam. Students might sense a form of pressure in improving their handwriting.
With great advancements in technology and hybrid form of classes, student can’t be forced to develop good handwriting. Handwriting than skill have now become an art, where people pursue if they like it.


To appreciate good handwriting schools can promote handwriting competitions where students can exhibit their writing talents.
To improve handwriting teachers can provide various handwriting assignments to improve handwriting of students.
Handwriting is a presentable and an appreciated skill, but it must not become pressure factor for students especially during exams where students have to bother about studying and time management skills.

Student can be encouraged to write legibly in exam so that the paper is presentable.
